In the state legislature, I co-sponsored the Clean Fuels Act (HB 1091) and supported the package of bills that constituted the Climate Commitment Act (CCA). The CCA establishes a cap on greenhouse gas emissions and drives reductions toward a 95% decrease by 2050.
I also advocated for legislation (HB 1924) to integrate fusion energy into our State Energy Strategy to reduce our state's carbon emissions and increase the stability of our power grid.
As Mayor of Shoreline, I led the city in becoming the first to implement green garbage and compost pickup. I also launched a green business program that included compost services, reducing harmful waste, protecting the environment, and saving utility payers from steep increases in solid waste fees.
I also led the effort to implement complete street designs that combine roadway safety with city beautification while addressing the environmental impacts of roadway traffic and sewage.
